Kickass and April Fools Day
Kickass, the doorstop dog, likes April Fools Day because it just seems to define what it means to live with the keeper and his kind as they all now ride with Thelma and Louise heading over the cliff to their inevitable doom. If there could ever be a canine analogy it would be a mindless pack of well-fed wolves being led by an African jungle cat to an NRA sponsored gun show. (The jungle cat’s tactic is to grab victims by the throat and rip their guts out with its long claws.) But it is April Fools Day and there is a new moon on the early morning horizon. It is a promise that things will go on, despite the jungle cat, at least for a while. This moon will grow and become round and bright, and lovers will stare at it in transfixed glory. The keeper and Phyllis should be so lucky as to be among them and they invite everybody to join them in giving the bird to the jungle cat from the windows of Thelma and Louise’s speeding car.
