Kickass and Dalai on aging

Kickass, the doorstop dog, listened as the keeper discussed an interview with the Dalai Lama on successful aging in which he—the Dalai said whether or not you are into a god belief, the important thing is to be compassionate toward others.  He also said even Jesus, like everyone, was “naughty” as a young man; and rather than just hang everything on prayer it is better to “analyze like a scientist” and then act accordingly.

The keeper was gratified to learn that he and the Dalai had something in common in that they both “love to talk.”  The Dalai used “blah, blah, blah” to make the point and the keeper does not take issue with that description of his own talking.

Successful aging, in the keeper’s estimation, is pretty much just staying upright, out of jail and breathing, and being compassionate, of course.  But he is not above taking advice from the likes of the Dalai who said it is important to get 10 hours of sleep every night.  The keeper, who had gotten only eight hours the night before,  immediately went back to bed.
