Kickass and Korean deals

Kickass, the doorstop dog, indulges the keeper as he recalls a couple of his Korean “deals.”  First was at the replacement depot in Seoul when he realized that since he was going to war he should really have a camera, and the only way to get one was to poke money through a fence and hope the Korean recipient came back with a camera, which he did, albeit one that took photos too small for easy viewing.

The second Korean deal was on a recon patrol between the lines to check on what was supposed to be a vacated village.  It wasn’t, and while the Korean adults stayed in hiding, half  a dozen kids suddenly appeared and struck up gesturing friendships.  The keeper realized after a time that his binoculars were missing, and made it know with gestures that he would give a can of C-ration beans and wieners to anyone returning them.  Twenty minutes later, the deal was made when one of the kids came grinning out from behind a fallen-down house with the binoculars in hand.

Kickass hopes that those involved in making current Korean deals are not so careless and trusting as the keeper.
