Kickass and new-old journalism

Kickass. the doorstop dog, says May 15, 2018 was probably as challenging a day as he has seen in a long time: in its perfection it made it damn difficult for professional complainers to have a meaningful experience.

The keeper finally found something he could get his fangs into however: Tom Wolfe, identified with the “New Journalism” that encouraged going beyond the four “W’s” and kicking around in literary territory, died at the age of 88.

So Tom was a contemporary of the keeper’s, much older, of course, well a couple of years anyway, and while the keeper was riding his word wagon through the 35 year demise of newspapers, it was interesting to keep an eye on Tom’s work.  It is the keeper’s sense that Tom made journalism a helluva lot more fun, at least for a while.  It’s a damn shame that all got replaced by fake news and alternate facts.  Nothin’ fun or funny in those things.
