Kickass and the $2.225 hotel room
Kickass, the doorstop dog, listens as the keeper says there are things that crop up on a daily basis to vividly illustrate the abject unfairness of how the pack consumes a kill; and yet another is how a Trump hotel in Washington DC is raising its room rate to $2,225 per night with a two-night minimum for Jan 19 and 20, simultaneously as a one-time survival payment of $2,000 is denied to millions of destitute and desperate citizens.
Imagine that, the keeper laments, there are those (many) who can and will pay $2,225 to sleep one-night in a hotel that makes them feel important simply for being in the proximity of, in this case, a covid-reduced inauguration crowd, at the same time that food-bank lines stretch for miles across the country as children go hungry, and hopelessness and a deadly pandemic reign.
The country is seemingly being run out of a Jerry Falwell Jr. think-tank with Hawley and Cruz and Mitch as directors.
Consider the $10 billion that Bayer, owner of Monsanto, AGREED to pay for causing fatal cancer for tens of thousands of “Roundup” users, and how there will apparently be no personal accountability for the highly-paid Monsanto execs who made the deadly corporate decisions, while the cancer victims stagger to their graves and Bayer stockholders count their money!
The keeper imagines Joseph and Mary looking for “room at the inn” in the DC area and being told by the “wise men” to cough up $2,225 or head for the barn.
A fancy new bank building just went up on a corner in the keeper’s neighborhood. He sees it as an offensive money symbol of how the big wolves sit selfishly and narcissistically on top of the kill until their guts bulge and they go off to nap.
That corner would have been a great location for a food distribution center.
