Kickass and weather talk

Kickass, the doorstop dog, notes along with the keeper that a communication that resorts to the weather as subject matter is a clear indication of a relationship in trouble, attempts to avoid a political shouting match or being conducted in an elevator.

Contrary to all of that, the keeper looks out at the balcony thermometer and tells Phyllis that winter is back and she needs to dress warm for her dental appointment.

The keeper would go on to comment on a remembered mid-March blizzard, but Phyllis has heard about that from him, probably several times, so he will wait for an elevator audience and say something profound like, “It was a short summer, huh?”
