Kickass bird in the house
Kickass, the doorstop dog, says the keeper has been sharing the outside of his house with a family of phoebes that have had a nest over the basement entry almost since the day the house was built. Other than a bit of unseemly residue, the arrangement has been workable, but today one of the phoebes somehow moved inside the house and began a fluttering escape attempt that distracted the keeper from his habit of unbroken deep and meaningful thinking.
When last seen the phoebe had migrated to the upstairs office where the keeper often sits in front of his computer and naps. The office door was left open and it is entirely possible the phoebe used it to escape while the keeper was eating his morning gruel.
Kickass is trying to make something of this, but can only come up with: A bird in hand is worth two in the bush and a bird in the vicinity of a computer with its social media nonsense risks losing the power of flight.
