Kickass cardinal song

Kickass, the doorstop dog, says his keeper was enjoying a glass of wine on the deck last evening when a cardinal perched on the very top of the deck tree and rendered an exquisite version of “My Funny Valentine,” a song that always renders the keeper more or less incapacitated for an hour or so.

So maybe the cardinal garbled a few notes.  Maybe the wine played tricks on hearing.  It doesn’t matter.  There was a moment, a memory, magnificence in just being there.
