Kickass deck listening

Kickass, the doorstop dog, notes that his keeper listened to the magnificent monotony of the whip-or-will and a tree frog from the post-sunset darkness of the deck, while inside the house the incessant ranting of the TV pundits was also non-stop.

It was not a difficult choice to stick with the plaintive calls of the bird and the frog, and to wonder if what they are saying is the same thing all creatures—including us, are saying, only just more tightly edited?
