Kickass

Kickass enjoys winter from inside

Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper, now living a life free of snow blowers , ice scrappers and non-skid boots, reports that the meaning has not gone out of his life.

However, in an effort to preserve symbolic relevance, he—the keeper took the opportunity to watch out the window during the latest storm as others wrestled with snow removal equipment, scraped at ice-coated windshields and did arm-waving, ballet-like moves to avoid falling on their ass.

There may be a number of down sides to getting old, but the opportunity to stay inside during a Wisconsin winter snow storm is not one of them.  In the style of the keeper and his ilk, the current storm was best absorbed by looking at it through the living room window, with the fire place flickering, grog in hand, and regaling Phyllis with the accounts of boyhood winters when snow was ass-deep to a tall elephant, it was so cold that solidly frozen sparrows dropped out from under the eaves like big, brown snowflakes, and the walk to the country school was comparable to climbing Everest.

Getting old may not be for sissies, nor is for shoveling snow.
