Kickass ltr to ed re: Hounding
Kickass, the doorstop dog, includes the keeper’s letter to the Wis. St. Jour. editor published Nov. 17:
Only in Wisconsin is chasing critters with hounds allowed in such an outrageous and cruel manner, extending even over summer for “training” purposes.
This speaks to something beyond indifference: it speaks to the basic decency of the citizenry. It identifies those we have elected to make our rules as having sold out to the bear hunting, wolf hating crowd that we hand money to when one of their tormenting hounds gets killed by a pup-protecting wolf.
There are a lot of things that need fixing, and a deep-in-the-woods issue like this tends to get shoved off the political table by a predominately city-dwelling population.
That is the true outrage—that we in Wisconsin cannot see fit to do a simple moral thing in support of natural tranquility and against cruelty and basic decency.
