Kickass mourns Jerry Minnich
Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in mourning the loss of Jerry Minnich who died recently at 86. A man who knew and loved writing and food, Jerry was a publisher and restaurant critic with thousands of friends in both categories. A dining experience with Jerry was a rare treat, and the keeper knows from experience that a writing experience was equally rewarding. As the owner of Prairie Oak Press, Jerry published the first edition of the keeper’s “Trout Friends,” and more recently he wrote a review/blurb for the keeper’s novel “Margaret’s War.” In that blurb Jerry wrote that he was “blown away” by Margaret’s War, and, “The book should be on the NYT best seller list and is easily on a par with any John Grisham novel.”
The keeper, in that age group where friends check out on almost a daily basis, grieves for the loss of all of them, but when one like Jerry leaves it is particularly jolting. And then there is no way to avoid using his friendship and laudatory words in self promotion. Jerry would want it that way, and then he would suggest going out for dinner to a special place he knew about.
RIP, Jerry!
