Kickass, the doorstop dog – October 17, 2016

Kickass, the doorstop dog, says his keeper ended the trout season Saturday in the magnificent driftless area of southwest Wisconsin, watching Harry Peterson catch trout and catching a few himself, then attending a Trout Unlimited event at which a lot of people celebrated their concern and preservation efforts in the manner of those who pass around decency as casually as they might a jug of fine bourbon. The coulees were explosive with color, taking your breath away and making you stop to stare and wonder how the passage of time can be so cruel and yet so beautiful.
