Kickass and babybumps

Kickass, the doorstop dog, is suffering through yet another of the keeper’s efforts to do something about his baby-bump, short of giving birth, which he is obviously not equipped to do.  His past attempts at baby-bump reduction have meant cutting back on either food or drink, and perhaps more important, photographic documentation comparing his baby-bump to the actual baby-bumps of pregnant family members.  One such photo taken several years ago, documents that the baby-bumps of Becky, Ari and Lindsey have transformed into Tyler, Margo and Romy—all delightful great-grandchildren, while the keeper’s baby-bump is still very much in place.

In a more recent iteration of baby-bump issues, the keeper posed with grand- daughter Sunny and her baby-bump in a photo that included Sunny’s brother Andy who apparently aspires to the keeper’s role as the clan’s pregnant male.

With Phyllis’s family, great-grandchildren are arriving at an astounding pace, delighting her, of course.

The whole thing reminds the keeper—a depression baby, that biology will have its way, and nothing interferes with the immediate and long term thrills that go along with propagation.

In the meantime, the keeper is reassessing his decision to reduce his intake of drink instead of food as a baby-bump control measure.  All things considered in these crazy times, hunger pangs would seem tolerable if they are accompanied by a slight brandy buzz.
